Chocolate Caramel Popcorn
Chocolate Caramel Popcorn is made by popping fresh kernels in a popcorn maker, coating them with homemade caramel, baking for crispiness, and finishing with a chocolate drizzle. It delivers a crunchy, sweet, and chocolatey snack you can enjoy anytime.
Ingredients
- ½ cup popcorn kernels (for the popcorn maker)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup insulated butter
- ¼ cup corn syrup or honey
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup chocolate chips or melted chocolate
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Popcorn kernels in your popcorn maker according to the machine's instructions. Transfer the fresh popcorn to a large bowl and remove any unpopped kernels.
Make the Caramel
- In a saucepan, mix butter, sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Cook on medium heat until it starts bubbling. Let it simmer for 3 to 4 minutes without stirring.
- Remove the pan from heat and quickly stir in baking soda and vanilla. The Caramel will foam up slightly.
Coat the Popcorn
- Pour the caramel over the popped popcorn and toss until everything is evenly coated.
- Spread the caramel popcorn on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Bake at 250°F (120°C) for 25–30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to keep it crisp.
- Melt the chocolate in the microwave or over a double boiler.
- Drizzle the melted chocolate over the baked caramel popcorn.
- Let it cool completely, then break it into pieces and store in an airtight container.
